My New Year Resolutions
Study more
At the moment I study between classes, mainly when I have an exam coming up. My goal is to study once a day, at least 30 minutes for each class, even if I do not have an exam coming up. I also want to make a better plan of what to study. Studying won't just mean doing homework, I want to make notecards to review and make study guides out of my notes. I want to be a more active learner.
Order less delivery
This is majorly important for me, I get food delivered way too often and I keep making excuses as to why I do it. This year I want to try to not order anything at all. The only time I will allow myself delivery is during finals week. And maybe if I am sick and I am literally out of all other options for food. I also think that when I order delivery I feel horrible about myself and I get mad at myself for eating fast food because of the unhealthy of it.
Cook more
I want to cook more for a lot of reasons. The biggest is that it is a lot easier to know what is in the food I eat if I am the one making it. Cooking also helps me be more excited about what I am eating and be more active in enjoying the food and the process. Along with that, I think it is a skill I desperately need to work on and since moving out I have realized I only make the same three foods every day, I want to broaden my horizons. It is also cheaper to cook at home and bring food to work/school so that I am not buying food or getting food delivered.
Keep room clean
My goal is to have a room that stays clean. I clean my room about twice a week and usually by the next day it is a mess. To change this I want to make a point to not eat in my room and if I do to immediately take the dishes or trash out to where they belong. I also want to every day before I go to bed to look around and clean or pick up one thing that is not in its place. I think my making a habit of cleaning small things every day won't pile on to be a massive chore that I dread doing. I also want to do a better job of washing my dishes right away rather than letting them in the sink for days until I stop procrastinating.
Keep Binx's litterbox clean
I usually will go weeks without cleaning my cat's litterbox, just out of procrastinating and then it just gets to a point where I know it will be bad and I want to avoid it at all costs. I want to make a point to start doing it once a week and then if I can keep that up for a month, change it to twice a week. I hope doing this will help me create a habit of cleaning her litterbox. This way the litterbox never gets really bad, and the litter will last longer as well. My baby girl deserves better than what I have been doing, so this resolution is a top priority.
Workout more
I know this is such a basic resolution that everyone breaks. But for my health, I want to take this seriously. My physical health is not the best and I want to feel healthier. I already walk thousands of steps every day and am eating healthily the majority of the time. But I am not seeing a difference in energy levels or in my weight. Though I will say I see a difference in myself from being someone who did not eat much to someone who eats all three meals. But I want to be the healthiest version of myself.
This goal is made difficult because I have severely sensitive joints and a knee with an old injury. Doing weights is not an option (doctors' orders). I am hoping to get my body back to a point where I am capable of running a mile.
Better self-care
My love language has always been quality time. I want to make an effort to spend time alone with myself. Whether it is reading, doing a face mask, or doing yoga. I think I don't spend enough time taking care of myself so I hope to at least once a week spend an hour by myself. Especially as I tend to put all of my energy into taking care of others instead of myself, which is okay as long as I am making time for myself as well.
Find a second job
There are a lot of reasons why I need a second job. The biggest reason is that I need to pay my rent. My on-campus job is not much in terms of pay and I barely make 100 a week. My rent is 500 a month. When you add in groceries, electricity, and other necessities. Not even including pay for school, there is just not enough money for me to function off of. So my goal is to find a second job- preferably one that is remote since I do not have a car or any way to get myself to an in-person job that isn't right next to my apartment.
